Every LGBTQ Pride celebration, AIDS Walk or any public gathering where homosexual people may be, there always seems to be someone or a group of people with signs like, “God hates fags” or “AIDS kills Gays” along with someone with a megaphone who is preaching their version of the bible so there may be some repentance or some shame felt for celebrating LGBTQ Pride.

At Seattle Pride this year, a fabulously heroic drag queen named Mama Tits, who was armed with biblical knowledge and a microphone had something to say in return to the rhetoric of those attempting to thwart the pride celebration.

“They themselves are sinners, they are wearing cotton-poly blend and that is an abomination.” Referring to (Leviticus 19: 19)’Keep my decrees. Do not mate different kinds of animals. Do not plant your field with two kinds of seed. Do not wear clothing woven of two kinds of material.”

“Did you kill your daughters if they have sex out of wedlock?” Referring to (Exodus 20:14) “You shall not commit adultery.”

“Do you sleep with your wife if she happens to have that time of month? You’re not even supposed to share the bed with her, should we stone you for that?” Referring to (Leviticus 18:19) “Also thou shalt not approach unto a woman to uncover her nakedness, as long as she is put apart for her uncleanness.”

“Why don’t you read your own book and actually follow  the teachings to the letter of God.”

Our favorite, which we’re sorry she didn’t remind them, don’t eat shellfish (Leviticus 11: 9-12) 9 These shall ye eat of all that are in the waters: whatsoever hath fins and scales in the waters, in the seas, and in the rivers, them shall ye eat. 10 And all that have not fins and scales in the seas, and in the rivers, of all that move in the waters, and of any living thing which is in the waters, they shall be an abomination unto you: 11 They shall be even an abomination unto you; ye shall not eat of their flesh, but ye shall have their carcasses in abomination.12 Whatsoever hath no fins nor scales in the waters, that shall be an abomination unto you.

Thank you Mama Tits, for having a microphone, for knowing your scripture and for sending them a message of God’s love, even bigots need love.
